PipeBoard® Balance Trainer

Picking the best balance trainer device for your skate, snow and wake workouts can be a bit tricky since they come in all different shapes and sizes and have many different uses. However, if you know exactly what you are looking for in features and functionality then it makes it much easier. Before you buy a balance trainer device, you need to know what functions and features are going to work best for you. A benefit of using a balance board, wobble board, balance pad, or balance disc besides improving your balance and stability and strengthening your legs is that it has a direct effect on your core muscles as well. The extra effort it takes to steady yourself when using these tools causes your core muscles to work in such a way that it tones and shapes your obliques, lower back and abdominals. Calories are burned faster because the muscles have to constantly work to keep you from falling from the balance trainer device. PipeBoard® does this specifically as a snowboard trainer to support skateboard balance training.  With a PipeBoard® balance board, you can improve your balance and stability by trying to ride it for as long as possible. This also strengthens your leg and core muscles if you do it for extended periods of time and is a way to improve balance for snowboarding and skating. Balance pads are foam pads that give your foot an unstable surface. These are very low-tech tools but still work very well and can be used with one foot or two and can be sat, kneeled, or laid on. Balance discs are similar to a balance pad but are filled with air and have a slightly different feel. They also can be used with one foot or two and can be sat, kneeled, or laid on as well. The discs can be inflated or deflated to achieve a different amount of challenge. These are the least expensive of the balance trainer devices but still very effective. Wobble boards are a round wood or plastic balance board with a small dome on the bottom giving it a small point of ground contact that allows the board to move in any direction. These can be used with one foot or two and are the most common in balance training. These can range from easy to difficult, depending on the size of the dome on the underside of the platform. Rocker boards are different from wobble boards because it only tips in two directions either front to back or side-to-side, depending on how you are standing on the platform. These have different styles but perform basically the same and would be ideal for those new to this kind of training. Roller boards are a rectangular or oval shaped board that balances on top of a cylinder or roller of some kind. It will only tip in two directions, similar to a rocker board; front to back or side-to-side, depending on how you are standing on it. The unique thing about roller boards is that when you lean the board will move on the roller, changing its point of balance. They are particularly useful for those who need to train for water sports. When using a PipeBoard® balance trainer device you will experience improvements in balance, coordination, athletic skill, and posture, which will result in fewer injuries and greater stability as you age that can help prevent falls and keep you both strong and an independent snowboarder and skateboarder for longer.
